The different personas involved in an office move. Which one are you?

The Office Move:

Earlier this month, Libra Careers marked a landmark as we said goodbye to our office of six years, and moved on to pastures new to cater for our ever-growing team.

Moving office is a significant event that can bring both excitement and challenges to any organisation. As teams pack up their belongings and close one journey, they embark on a new one.

In this piece we dissect the different personas involved in an office move. Which one are you?

The Organiser:

The backbone of any office move, the organiser spends weeks color-coding spreadsheets, chopping and changing furniture ideas in their head, priding themselves on their attention to detail. The organiser oversees the whole operation, and has likely packed and labelled every last item.

The Social Butterfly:

The social butterfly is another important cog in the office move wheel. This team member excels at boosting team morale, organising office move parties, and capturing team spirit across all departments of the business so everyone feels involved in the office transition.

The Sentimental Soul:

For those longer serving team members, moving office can be an emotional phase. The sentimental soul cherishes memories and items that capture the essence of the old office in all its glory to take into the new space. Whether it be placement of pictures or the presence of the old shredder in the corner despite the fact that no one uses it anymore, they remind us to embrace nostalgia and not forget where we have come from.

The Problem Solver:

Office moves can present unexpected challenges, and that's where the problem solvers come in. These individuals thrive in high-pressure situations, quickly identifying and addressing any obstacles that arise. Their ability to think on their feet and find creative solutions ensures that the office move progresses smoothly, even in the face of unforeseen circumstances.

Conclusion:

An office move is more than just a change of physical space; it is an opportunity for teams to come together, adapt, and embrace new beginnings. The different types of people found in the office during a move each contribute in their own unique way. By appreciating the diverse talents and strengths within the team, organisations can navigate the challenges of moving office with greater ease and unity.
